oh my oh my oh my. i'm torn between being so unbelievably impressed with christien mindertsma's idaho project, or just plain depressed by how impressive it really is.
for the project, christien takes wool from organic sheep in Lava Lake Ranch, Idaho and from each sheep's yield of wool, she knits up one hexagon of rug. the wool is felted and if you watch her video here you can see how each stitch is almost a painful experience (i'm a fast knitter, so knitting one stitch at a slow pace with such thick wool would probably frustrate me).
i am impressed though - totally inspired and its a good reminder as to the source of wool - although i'm not sure i'm going to rush out and shear a bunch of sheep to make my next cushion.
